“Is there any point in resisting?” Adrian asked, hoping she would just let him rest in peace.
A deep long growl was the only response.
He sighed. There is no use in trying to convince a determined tiger out of anything. With all the shame of a chastised toddler, he got of the rock, and seated himself on Leila. She was off at a trot, please with herself for her brilliance.

As far as tigers go, Leila is really rather large. Her shoulders are roughly four feet tall, which makes her rather hard to ignore: especially when all that body is pinning you to a rock.
She looked down at her friend with a playful grin.
He looked up at her with an eye of concern. “You know that I can’t just walk all day like you, Leila. I require a moment of rest, so unless you intend to carry me, get off my chest”
She licked him.
“I was joking, I’m not seriously going to let you carry me anywhere. What sort of man would I look like if a tiger was carrying me?”
Her only response was to hop off the rock, and crouch, very close to ground level.

Adrian always had trouble walking with Leila. In general, she scared everyone who hadn't previously met her, so walking in the road was very trying. Or very exciting, depending on your point of view, for Leila took great joy out of terrifying humans.
They walked all morning, until Adrian's feet were sweaty and sore. He sat on a large rock on the side of the road, took some water out of his pack, and started to relax.
"How pathetic", Leila thought as she glanced at him, "we can't get anywhere with him always needing breaks".
Adrian started as Leila pounced on the rock, placing her two front paws on either side of his chest.

Adrian was standing outside in the lane looking around for Leila. After another moment studying the surroundings, he saw her approach at a quick and lively pace. She looked far too happy to have done anything good. "What have you been doing?" he called in her direction.
She tried to put on her most innocent face as she approached. She looked up at him with her big eyes, and tried to convey a sense of serene indifference. Nothing, she thought. I was doing nothing that a tiger shouldn't be doing. I was only doing what I should to fulfill my nature. Silly human.
"I apologized to our neighbors for your little wake up call this morning" Adrian said in a mock-stern manner "and they asked if you would like to have some breakfast out back" he finished.
Leila sniffed the air, and all she could pick up was the smell of cured, week old meant. She snorted.
"I'll take that as a no thank you" Adrian said as he disappeared inside to tell the people within.
After a few short seconds he was back. "Ready?" he asked?
Leila growled the affirmative, and they set off further up the lane.

Leila pranced around, toes touching meadow until she could smell animal on the air before her. There, hundreds of feet ahead, was a herd of cows. Grazing. Their jaw muscles moving. The rise an fall of their sides.
Leila was stalking them.
With a flash of stripes she had run, leapt, and sunk her claws into a small, lean, specimen.
In the space of an hour she had pounced, devoured, and started back towards Adrian.

Arian stepped back and looked at her, "Really?"
She blinked.
"I won't get you breakfast if you don't move" He said, hoping her stance would weaken enough for her to sneak past.
She let out a low rumbling amused roar. She was a tiger. Nobody but a tiger needs to get food for a tiger, they are very capable creatures. Silly humans, always thinking they are the best at everything. Leila gave him a diminishing look and pranced off towards the next villiage, with every intention of stealing a nice cow or like-sized beast.

Adrian and Leila continued down the road until they reached a large brick building. Very displeased, Leila let out a rumble before she sat down square in front of the door.
"I won't take long, I promise" Adrian said, attempting to sneak past her and through the door. However, the downside of having a tiger for a best friend is that they weigh hundreds of pounds, and are quite capable of taking up an entire doorway.
His attempts were unsuccessful.

Adrian stared at Leila, "Do you realize how demanding you are? Always needing attention...". He continued to mutter as he wandered around the room in search of clothes, stopping here and there to stroke her head. "Now let's go apologize to everyone for the wake up call" he said after he was dressed.
He wandered down the stairs and outside into the garden, Leila following gracefully behind him. Once outside she could smell all the little critters in the garden, and the family dog that she was specifically not allowed to eat. Crouching low, she slunk through the vegetables until a large unsuspecting rabbit was in sight. She pounced, there was a flash of claws, and two seconds later the rabbit had disappeared down her throat.
A good morning snack.
"That better not have been a dog" Adrian called to her. He was almost at the gate of the garden, so she quickly bound over to him and sprang out the gate before it had a chance to close. "Quite energetic this morning" Adrian said, looking at her as she trotted around, her head held high.

Leila woke up, uncurled, and stretched her claws. She looked down at them and admired their strong shiny appearance. If the situation arose, those claws could slice through anything. Nothing could hurt her. She then looked over at the human next to her. Funny creatures, she thought, they don't even have sharp teeth. Either way, she was very fond of this human, for she had known him all her life. His name was Adrian, and he had chosen her years ago.
Not wanting to be awake without company, Leila padded nearer to his bed and placed a large paw flat on his face. Adrian lazily stirred and removed the paw, attempting to turn away for a few more minutes of sleep. This did not suit Leila. She placed her nose right next to his head and let out a quiet roar.
Adrian sprang upright, and glared at her. "What was that for?" he exclaimed. "You may have not only woken me, but everyone in the town."
She responded with a sheepish look.
